'Hermès in the Making' presented in Seoul

by Living in Korea 2024. 5. 22.

After first being held in Copenhagen in October 2021,

Hermès In The Making,

an exhibition showcasing Hermès' unique and sustainable know-how,

has continued its journey around the world and

presents its 10th chapter in Korea!

Hermes products reflect the times,

but they do not intentionally display traces of time in their products.

This is because Hermes objects are repaired and

made to be passed down for a long time.

Hermès has established production facilities in regions that have long preserved special know-how:

silk in Lyon,

glove making in Haute-Vienne

and porcelain in Limousin.

Did you know?

The author of this scarf, Jan Bajtlik, hid a dog in each scarf.

Take a look at the production process of Hermes objects, which are designed to be loved for a long time, repaired, and passed down from generation to generation. Since the House was founded in 1837, six generations of artisans have protected and developed the historic know-how of the Hermès workshops. This precious heritage is a treasure trove of ever-evolving and rich craftsmanship.
Hermès in the Making provides an opportunity to work with artisans representing 10 types of Hermès métiers and get a glimpse of their professional skills and special know-how. Artisan work, which fully reflects the spirit of Hermès, means preserving and developing professional skills linked to historical traditions or regions, and pursuing quality, durability, innovation and respect for the surrounding environment. This exhibition, which runs for 9 days, offers a special experience through live demonstrations, workshops, video screenings, and interactive activities throughout the space. You can enjoy your own unique journey based on a variety of interests that spark your curiosity.
